This is a very, very beautifully written and soul-felt article. I really don't know how we go on after losing our beloved ones. Maybe because they want us to. Happy anniversary!

What can I say? My heart goes out to you, I am so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately statistics show that many caregivers die before their carees do. It just goes to show how passionate they are abut caring for their loved ones. Thank God I found someone who forced me to take a good look at myself and my health. My health had declined dramatically when I took in my mom, but I took my friend's advice and took vacations. Like she said, I would be no good to my mother sick, or worse, dead.

Thank you for that wonderful tribute. I wish I could have written something like that.
I lost my first wife to cancer a little over 6 years ago. We had been married 30 years, 1 day and 22.5 hours.
I am going to file a copy of this in my Wisdom and Beauty folder. To read again on our anniversary.

I'm so very sorry. This is such a moving tribute, and I am forwarding it to someone I know who needs to read it. That last paragraph especially. Thank you for sharing your story.

"Thwap", "Rotten Little Bere", and "Much Much, Many Many!" are of few of the many Ginny-isms that I have stuck in my head.

As for your statement:"I’m not going to catalog my faults", I am doing mental battle with myself as to which would be a more fitting tribute to Ginny...let it slide, or help you to catalog them. I think she would have enjoyed me helping you catalog them...but seeing as you could do the same for me I'll refrain.

Ginny was a pretty amazing lady. As you pointed out she was humble to a fault. NEVER wanting attention or recognition for her many generous acts...I would mention the bus she bought for the church...but she wouldn't want me to...so I won't. ooops!

She was a loving Aunt to the kids...how they ever grew up not spoiled I will never know...God knows she tried! They had the biggest swing set in town, the coolest bikes, and more books than the town library.

I remember when Andy was about 3 years old and we were all in a book store and he looked at a book and said, "HOP ON POP"...Ginny shrieked, "Smart and clever reading boy" loud enough for everyone in the whole mall to hear. We left the store with every book Dr. Seuss ever wrote.

I will always cherish our vacations together. Remember the hotel in Ohio whose decor she dubbed, "Early American Bomb Shelter"? She did have a way with words. That was the place where you and she brought rolls of quarters so the kids could empty the animal crane. I just gave the last 50 of those little stuffed animals away at VBS this year...and the kids are in their 20's.

Well I guess I'll wrap this up for two reasons: 1st if it gets much longer people will think we are related, and second, as you mentioned above: "this much about her would have horrified her".

I'll close with the most famous Ginny-ism...the one you now say so often: "Far better than I deserve". She was far better than we deserved. ~Love you!
